Yesss...
small macro lens, double mirror... will be bas quality but great concept proof. The world will recognize Sony as the inventor of the idea and system... :-) 2010/1/8 guillaume_fulchiron <[hidden email]> > Great, I'm gonna GSV my home ! > > G. > > > > Henri Smeets <henri@...> wrote: > > > > > > I already posted it on Pan0guide but also share it here! > > > > http://n4.nabble.com/file/n1009232/Sony_360lens.jpg > > > > Here a screenshot showing the live feed left and the panoramic view right > > (below the panoview you see the fullview with a rectangle overlay for > > feedback-navigation. > > > > http://n4.nabble.com/file/n1009232/bloggie_screen.jpg > > > > Taken from this Youtube Video: > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyyewflZOgA&translated=1 > > > > Surely no match to the LadyBug or Dodeca in quality or angular coverage > but > > in price ($199) and ease-of-use an absolute winner! > > -- > > View this message in context: > http://n4.nabble.com/SONY-Bloggie-360-video-camera-tp1009232p1009232.html > > Sent from the PanoToolsNG mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > -- > > > > -- Luca Vascon. www.canalview.it www.officinepanottiche.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

What a nice and very clever design.
I think when this baby is panning around and going up and down in some kind of robot mode then a full spherical image of the scene could be captured. I hope to read and see more about it. Wim |

Hi all,
I just found panoramic footage of the Sony bloggie on youtube: Sony bloggie MHS PM5K 360 video test shoot (before converting): www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9yJkRYeCGQ<http://www.panoguide.com/r/?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DJ9yJkRYeCGQ> Sony bloggie MHS-PM5K 360 video (after converting) www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjVodf2Bnwg<http://www.panoguide.com/r/?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DLjVodf2Bnwg> I downloaded the converted file as "True High Def 720p", then measured width x hight of the actual image as 1062x154 pixel. Then I calculated the vertical field of view (vfov) as 52.2 degrees. It's virtually the same vfov my Pentaone P360M25 had. I still think the Sony bloggie has a palnon lens. It would fit. it looks very good (I have added it to my wish list)
my question do I have to use their (sony) software to convert the panos? i am using ubuntu (linux) tom |

Tom,
you don't have to. I am on Ubuntu too. Have a look at this article of mine explaining the whole workflow incl. all the command line commands needed. <http://www.diy-streetview.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10&sid=163665c1acefeda1b7376f29f4600ce2#p25> http://www.diy-streetview.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10&sid=163665c1acefeda1b7376f29f4600ce2 Jan On Sun, Jan 17, 2010 at 3:50 PM, tom_a_sparks <[hidden email]>wrote: > > > it looks very good (I have added it to my wish list) > > my question do I have to use their (sony) software to convert the panos? > i am using ubuntu (linux) > > tom > > > -- http://www.DIY-streetview.org [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ -- <*> Wiki: http://wiki.panotools.org <*> User Guidelines: http://wiki.panotools.org/User_Guidelines <*> Nabble (Web) http://n4.nabble.com/PanoToolsNG-f586017.html <*> NG Member Map http://www.panomaps.com/ng <*> Moderators/List Admins: [hidden email] Yahoo! In the footage coming from the SONY you can clearly a lens in the centre of the image, that is the Bloggies lens reflected in the upper mirror. The Palnon is probably even too expensive to be included as an $30 extra. The results though are very similar although I think the Palnon will give a clearer image and wider angle (about 70 degrees) |

Henri,
I hear you. It's just that it looks exactly like a palnon lens. Compare yourself: Left Sony bloggie, right Pentaone P360-M25 with a palnon lens http://www.diy-streetview.org/data/BILD0300.JPG Jan On Sun, Jan 17, 2010 at 5:00 PM, Henri Smeets <[hidden email]> wrote: > > > > > Jan Martin-2 wrote: > > > > I still think the Sony bloggie has a palnon lens. Hi, I´m curious how this panorama will be seen in a viewer like www.villmer.com or others like that.
Does anyone will make a example? Try a pure cylindrical viewer. Not cubes or strips -- just cylindrical.

Hmm, it seems I was wrong, it is not a mirror but indeed a lens, you were right Martin
